“After a decade of running a specialist medical meeting – focussed on infection – the time had come to get help from others, from professionals in the world of events organisation. What started as a half-day meeting had expanded into a one and half day affair, with central London hotel accommodation to organise, an international faculty and delegates from all over the UK and even some from abroad.  

Debbie and Andy at Page Medical sat down with me and we planned how to move forward in an environment of increasingly limited funding, other well-established meetings in decline, yet huge potential to provide education in a much neglected area of healthcare. We took the unique features of the existing meeting, which were sustaining its success and with their knowledge in the landscape of infection-related meetings, combined with my clinical expertise and connections, in the space of four years we have taken some very bold steps: moved from our iconic, hospital venue to another, purpose-built convention centre also in central London, increased the range of sponsors and now have a meeting with over 200 delegates, one fifth from abroad, huge industry interest and a faculty delivering a programme, which is more than a match for the foremost international congresses. The feedback from delegates and speakers alike testifies to the excellence we have achieved.  

In all of this, Debbie, and the Page Medical team, have been a pleasure to work with – ever available, always friendly, positive and solution-focused when we have had setbacks and, most importantly, innovative and real experts in their field.
